Hello, friends. Welcome to the Refugia Newsletter, a fortnightly newsletter for people of faith who care about the climate crisis and want to go deeper. This week: A celebration of climate books, a look at that 1.5 degree goal, and some Lenten thoughts about mortality
So grateful for this letter, Debra. You keep things moving--which in a rapidly changing world is super helpful--but the recommendations are substantial. I want to read these books.
Thanks, Craig. I've got so many more recommendations! I really need to update my website with suggested resources... just haven't found the time during the academic year. "This summer!" (the cry of academics everywhere this time of year...)
Wes and I really appreciated your thoughts on mortality after playing at a funeral. As 90 and 76 respectively, it stimulated a very intimate and thought provoking discussion on our own death and dying. Wes commented it was a relief to be reminded how soon we may be forgotten. Thank you.
Thanks for these recommendations and syntheses, Debra. I appreciate the work it took to dive into and summarize the state of the 1.5C goal. I too found The Home Place lovely. Lanham's place memoir and the Michigan sections of your Refugia Faith are powerful in similar ways.

Thank you for reading and for reaching out. I'm so glad the essay was meaningful to you. Blessings...

Thanks so much, Nate. So glad you're reading the newsletter (and the book!).
